Dr. Sawyers is on the board of Novartis AG and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Inc. and Member of American Academy of Arts & Sciences, Member of Institute of Medicine, Professor at Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Member of National Academy of Medicine of United States and Member of National Academy of Sciences.

In his past career Dr. Sawyers was President at American Association for Cancer Research, President of American Society for Clinical Investigation, Associate at the University of California and Chairman-Human Oncology & Pathogenesis Program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Sawyers received an undergraduate degree from Princeton University and a doctorate from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
