Presently, Ying Yen Tang holds the position of Chairman for Shanghai Tang Junyuan Education Foundation, Chairman at Friends of Hong Kong Association Ltd., Chairman of Federation of HK Jiangsu Community Organisations and Chairman at West Kowloon Cultural District Authority. Dr. Tang is also on the board of The Bank of East Asia Ltd. and The Bank of East Asia (China) Ltd.

He previously held the position of Member of Legislative Council of Hong Kong and Chief Secretary at Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Member of Executive Council of Hong Kong (a subsidiary of Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region).

Ying Yen Tang received an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.
