He previously occupied the position of Chairman at The 100 Group, Chief Financial Officer & Executive Director at BP Plc and Director & Deputy Chief Financial Officer at TNK-BP Ltd.

He received a doctorate from The University of Manchester and an undergraduate degree from The University of Sheffield.
