BT&T-AM is an active, quantitative investor that follows an aggressive growth-oriented investment style. The firm manages portfolios invested in securities from listed technology companies. They have defined two investment concepts TIME® and LIFE®. The TIME concept focuses on industries in and around the communication industry on a global basis; this includes telecommunications, information, media and entertainment. The LIFE concept focuses on life technology, information, food and environment. The firm has developed two indexes, the TIME World Index and the LIFE World Index, in cooperation with MSCI. They invest across regions, primarily North America, Western Europe, Japan, the Pacific and Emerging Markets. The firm's investment approach is based on the belief that only growth companies generate long-term outperformance. Their investment process combines top-down macroeconomic research to identify growth industries within the TIME and LIFE themes, and bottom-up security selection. They make extensive use of computer models which use fundamental market and company data. They also take into account behavioral factors. BT&T-AM, although they have no market cap restrictions, aims primarily to identify mid- to large-cap companies. These should present good growth potential, a stable business model and increasing market capitalization. They then assess companies, identifying and quantifying key success factors for the business in order to define them as investment criteria.
