Gegenwärtig ist Michael Pontzen Finanzvorstand der Lanxess AG und Mitglied der Geschäftsführung der LANXESS Deutschland GmbH (einer Tochtergesellschaft der Lanxess AG). Darüber hinaus ist er Mitglied des Boards von LANXESS India Pvt Ltd., LANXESS Corp. und Lanxess Solutions Korea, Inc. sowie Mitglied der Gesellschaft für Finanzwirtschaft in der Unternehmensführung, Mitglied des Vorstands des Deutschen Aktieninstituts e.V. und Mitglied der Geschäftsführung der LANXESS Deutschland GmbH.
