BASF SE ist der größte Chemiekonzern der Welt. Der Umsatz ist wie folgt auf die verschiedenen Produktfamilien verteilt:

- funktionale Produkte (44,1%): Katalysatoren (38,9% des Umsatzes), Leistungsmaterialien (23,9%), Monomere (22,7%), und Beschichtungen (14,5%);

- Hochleistungswerkstoffe (21,6%): Chemikalien für die Pflege (33,1% des Umsatzes), Dispersionen und Pigmente (31,8%), Performance Chemikalien (20,8%) und Nahrungsprodukte (14,3%);

- chemische Produkte (15%): Petrochemische Produkte (71,5% des Umsatzes) und Zwischenprodukte (28,5%);

- Agrochemikalien (14,6%);

- sonstige (4,7%).

Geographisch gesehen verteilt sich der Umsatz wie folgt: Deutschland (9,9%), Europa (27,9%), Nordamerika (27,3%), Asien / Pazifik (25,4%) und Südamerika / Afrika / Naher Osten (9,5%).
