Established in 1997, APC is privately owned and has no affiliation with, and receives no funding from, the PBM or related industries. They devote their services entirely to drug benefit purchasers, thereby eliminating those conflicts of interest. APC has a staff knowledgeable in pharmacy benefit issues and PBM operational capabilities. The staff includes pharmacists with Doctor of Pharmacy degrees, statisticians, financial analysts, MBAs, and pharmacy technicians. The majority of the APC team has worked previously within the PBM industry, and many employees have previous experience on other sectors of the healthcare system.
