Biografie
Geboren wurde Guy Wyser-Pratte als Sohn eines Ungarn und einer Österreicherin in Vichy, wohin die Eltern vor den Nationalsozialisten geflohen waren (siehe auch: Vichy-Regime). Seine Mutter stammte aus einer Grazer Familie, die nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg nach Frankreich ausgewandert war. Seine Eltern wanderten im März 1947 mit ihren Kindern in die USA aus, wo Guy Wyser-Pratte 1953 eingebürgert wurde. Er erreichte im Juni 1962 an der University of Rochester einen Bachelor of Arts-Abschluss in Geschichte und im Juni 1971 an der New York University einen Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finanzwirtschaft. Von Juni 1962 bis Juni 1966 diente er aktiv als Offizier in einem Aufklärungsbataillon der 3. Marine-Division des United States Marine Corps vor der Küste Indochinas, wo er in den Rang eines Captain aufstieg und sich auch freiwillig für den Vietnamkrieg meldete, jedoch nie an der Front eingesetzt wurde.

Das heute von ihm geleitete Unternehmen Wyser-Pratte & Co. wurde 1929 von seinem Vater Eugene Wyser-Pratte als internationaler Arbitragehandel in Paris gegründet. 1948 wurde es an der Wall Street neugegründet und fusionierte im Juli 1967 mit der Unternehmung Bache & Company, in der Guy (ab 1968) und sein Vater den Bereich Risikoarbitrage geleitet hatten. Im Januar 1971 ernannte ihn die Firma zum Leiter der Arbitrageabteilung, die er bis Januar 1991 innehatte.
