Initially formed as a partnership in 1981, Mil-ver Metal Co Ltd was incorporated in 1982, quickly establishing itself as a reliable supplier of consistently high quality alloys to the domestic automotive component suppliers. Some 25 years on, one of the co-founders Steve Miles is still Managing Director under whose vision and leadership the company has evolved into a leading supplier to major automotive and industrial customers in Europe, Scandinavia, North America and the Far East. As part of the AMC group, Mil-ver has a world-wide geographical spread of activities providing a balanced exposure to the global economy. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of AMC (Amalgamated Metal Corporation Plc) since February 2000, the company has undertaken a comprehensive programme of capital investment, an initial phase of which was the creation of a new foundry, fully commissioned in late 2005/early 2006, incorporating the latest rotary furnace melting technology with state of the art casting and environmental control installations, placing it at the forefront of the European Aluminum Recycling industry. Mil-ver now finds itself one of the largest remaining UK smelters with a capacity in excess of 25000 tonnes per annum and is continuing to invest in manufacturing and processing equipment improvements. This investment programme in Best Available Technology (BAT) for both its production facilities and processing operations gives Mil-ver well founded confidence in its ability to continue its role as a leading global supplier of the automotive, general engineering and white goods industries. The latest phase of BAT investment includes an additional furnace operating to the highest industry standards of energy efficiencies and process control whilst maintaining the most stringent quality and HSE standards. Health, safety and environmental issues are paramount to the success of the company and the introduction of all new technology considers HSE a top priority.
