HydroChile Pty Ltd. has been established to develop and operate (10-50 MW) 'run of river' hydro electric power generation projects in Chile, typically in the capacity range of 10 to 50 MW. The Company intends to develop a number of hydro power assets in the medium term and is currently in the development phase with three projects. The hydro power generation opportunities arise from the situation that Chile could experience power cuts by 2010 as a result of a rapid escalation in demand for power and a shortage in the supply of natural gas from Argentina unless additional power generation assets are rapidly developed. The company was established in 2006 and is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia.
