ParaScale recognized the need for a new class of storage solutions designed to support the wave of digital-content-intensive applications being adopted in the 21st century. These new applications-made possible by declining costs of semiconductors and the growth of the Internet-include video-on-demand, digital document archiving, scientific data analysis, video surveillance management, and medical image remote diagnosis. Adopting the best technologies in software design and leveraging the best tools available, ParaScale has delivered the ParaScale ParaScale Cloud Storage (PCS) system software layered on the Linux XFS file system, the Linux operating system, and the Internet Protocol (IP) networking protocol stack. ParaScale's founders have extensive experience in the development of systems software including operating systems, file systems, and database management systems on which modern applications rely. Members of ParaScale's founding engineering team have successfully delivered distributed operating systems and distributed file systems for companies including Sun (Sun Cluster), HP (Open SSI), Teradata (Teradata RDBMS), and IBM (AIX TCF). Headquartered in Silicon Valley, all of ParaScale's development is conducted in California.
