He was a Senior Partner in Masih Muhith Haque & Co. Mr. Chowdhury worked for two years in Saudi Arabia with the associate accountancy firm of KPMG International.
He was an Additional Chief Accountant (Company Affairs) at Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation and Controller of Accounts at GEC of Bangladesh Limited.
Mr. Chowdhury is a past part time lecturer of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh.
Mr. Chowdhury holds a Masters degree in Economics at Dhaka University, where he became a senate member after qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1981.
