Sergey Beiden

Dr. Sergey Beiden is an Analyst at Renaissance Broker Ltd.
He joined Renaissance Capital in May 2018 as an analyst covering utilities in Russia as well as frontier and emerging markets across the firm’s footprint, including the CIS, emerging Europe and Africa.
His two decades of experience is unparalleled in the market, as it combines both in-depth utilities industry experience with a strong background in equity research.
His consultancy work includes advising RAO UES on electricity and capacity market liberalisation and the development of the competitive electricity market in Russia.
He joined Renaissance Capital from Quadra Power Generation where as deputy head of the company’s strategy and development department, he created detailed financial models and advised on Quadra's long-term strategy.
Prior to that, he interspersed utilities coverage at several investment banks (including Otkritie Capital and Dresdner Kleinwort) with periods in the industry.
He has also worked at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Washington DC.
He holds an MBA in finance from California State University and the Moscow Institute of Business and Economics, as well as a Ph.D.
in theoretical physics from the National Research Centre "Kurchatov Institute" in Moscow.
He graduated with an M.Sc.
in applied mathematics and physics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and has published over 45 papers in various scientific journals.
