Frank Engels

Dr. Frank Engels is a Director of Portfolio Management at Union Investment Privatfonds GmbH.
He has been a member of the Executive Board of Union Asset Management Holding AG since July 2022 and is responsible for portfolio management and thus the strategy for an investment volumeof around EUR 380 billion.
Prior to this, he was Global Head of Fixed Income at DWS for sixmonths.
He previously worked for Union Investment from 2012 to 2021,initially as CIO Fixed Income.
In August 2014, he was appointed to the Board of Managing Directors at Union Investment Privatfonds GmbHand also took over as CIO Multi Asset at the beginning of 2017.
At the end of 2017, he became CIO for the entire portfolio management and was also chairman of the "Union Investment Committee".
In 2010 and 2011 he was Global Head of Asset Allocation Strategy and Co-Head of European Economics Research at Barclays Capital.
As Head of Emerging Market Debt in the portfolio management team, he had already worked at Union Investment from 2008 until 2010.
His former career took him since 2004 as Investment Manager and Head of Strategy to Thames River Capital LLP.
Previously he worked as Senior Economist to the European Central Bank and as Economist to theInternational Monetary Fund from 1999 until 2004, respectively, as well as to SwissRe in the years 1998 and 1999.
He studied economics at Johannes GutenbergUniversity Mainz, Germany, and subsequently spent four years duringhis Ph.D.
as a research fellow at Georgetown University in Washington,D.C.
and as research associate at the WHU in Koblenz, Germany,
