Southside Electric Cooperative was incorporated in January, 1937. SEC is the largest geographic rural electric cooperative in Virginia, providing electrical services to 53,227 members in portions of 18 counties, 6 towns and one city in Southside Virginia over more than 8,130 plus miles of line. The Cooperative has four district offices, is active in economic development and maintains a good community relations program. Southside Electric Cooperative, Inc. has joined .coop, the Internet domain exclusively for cooperatives and credit unions. The new domain .coop works just like .com and .org, but .coop is better. It can work as an alternative to .com and .org, or in tandem with them. It gives cooperatives a chance to differentiate themselves online and get the web addresses they need for a strong online presence addresses they couldn't get in the crowded .com domain. Southside Electric Cooperative's services include interactive voice response system, security lighting, speakers bureau, third party notification, and wiring and electrical consultative services.
