Medical Discovery Management Corp. manages the Canadian Medical Discoveries Fund (CMDF), a venture capital fund focused on the health science sector including life sciences, biotechnology, diagnostics, medical devices, drug discovery and development, health care delivery services and e-health. The Fund invests in technologies and intellectual property that are significant in the global marketplace and focuses on businesses involved in the testing and development or production and commercialization stages of development which have significant potential for growth. CMDF seeks investments that will provide at least a 30% annualized return. Expected time horizon for a liquid market, merger or acquisition is 2 to 4 years

MTP generally invests in research and technologies at an early stage of development, even prior to a full evaluation of commercial potential. Selection criteria include the potential size of the market, the credibility and efforts of the principal investigators, the uniqueness of the discovery and the patentability of the discovery. Investments are made by MTP or cover costs relating to patenting, demonstration of proof-of-principle, prototype development and market analysis.
