Ronald N. Hilton

Mr. Hilton is the visionary who drove the development efforts that spawned the creation of Platform Solutions, Inc. Mr. Hilton's pioneering efforts in developing prototypes to run IBM's MVS mainframe operating system on Intel's Itanium platform began in 1995 and, eventually, led to the spin-off of PSI from Amdahl in 1999.
It was Mr. Hilton, PSI's founder and now Chief Technology Officer, who first recognized the opportunity afforded his team by the convergence of their expertise and insight into the technology required to achieve mainframe compatibility, and the increasing power of new open systems technologies and the lack of true choice of mainframe computing platforms for customers.
As the company's CTO, Mr. Hilton is responsible for the overall design of the company's new generation of mainframe computers.
From initial concept to final production, Mr. Hilton has oversight for the company's new computer line and its evolution going forward.
While with Amdahl for 19 years, Mr. Hilton was instrumental in the development of the 5995M product family.
He initially managed the development of the cache memory subsystem, and later was lead architect in the mid-life performance enhancement of this server.
The 5995M was the performance leader in its class and the longest-lived ECL-based mainframe ever developed.
Mr. Hilton's professional experience covers a broad range of technical responsibilities in the computer industry.
His expertise in leading engineering teams and designs in the field of integrated circuit design, computer design architecture, performance modeling, benchmarking, and firmware development gives PSI the technical leadership to bring large-scale enterprise data center solutions to market.
Mr. Hilton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University.
