The firm was founded in 1986 and is a subsidiary of Morgan Stanley Investments (UK), ultimately held by Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) in the US. MSCI provides a range of brokerage services to corporations, governments and financial institutions.

HSBC Private Bank (Suisse) SA (HSBC-PBS) is a subsidiary of HSBC Private Banking Holdings (Suisse) SA, which in turn is a subsidiary of London-based HSBC Holdings Plc (LSE: HSBA; NYSE: HBC). HSBC-PBS was incorporated in 2001 as HSBC's private banking operations were undergoing reorganization. The bank was previously known as HSBC Republic Bank (Suisse) and originated in 1999. In 2009 the firm absorbed the activities of HSBC Guyerzeller Bank SA. HSBC-PBS is headquartered in Geneva with domestic branches in Lugano and Zurich as well as a seasonal office in St Moritz. HSBC-PBS specializes in cross-border wealth management for an international clientele of high-net worth individuals and institutions. They manage discretionary portfolios and distribute investment products managed within HSBC and by third parties, following an open architecture model. The bank also carries out market transactions, grants Lombard credits and participates in settlement operations for the parent group.
