The firm was founded as China International Fund Management Co., Ltd. in 2004 through a joint venture between Shanghai International Trust Co., Ltd. and JPMorgan Asset Management (UK) Ltd. In 2023, they became a subsidiary of JPMorgan Asset Management (UK) Ltd., which is ultimately owned by JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) in the US. JPMAM China provides investment advisory and mutual fund management services to Chinese individual and retail investors as well as international institutions.
