António de Almeida held several positions in different firms throughout his career.
He started as the Director-Finance & Secretary General at Marracuene Agricola Acucareira in 1966 and later became the Vice Chairman at Instituto De Credito De Mocambique in 1971.
He also worked as the Chief Executive Officer at The National Bank of Angola from 1974 to 1978 and as the Secretary at State of The Treasury from 1978 to 1980.
In 1991, he became the Chairman of União de Bancos Portugueses SA. He also worked as the Director at European Bank for Reconstruction & Development from 1998 to 2004.
Later, he became the Chairman of EDP-Energias de Portugal SA and OMIP - Pólo Português SGMR SA. Mr. de Almeida received his undergraduate degree from the University of Porto in 1961.
