Armen Mkrtchyan

rmen Mkrtchyan joined Flagship Pioneering in 2020 as a senior principal working closely with Flagship’s founder and CEO and other senior leadership and supporting select strategic initiatives and enterprise companies.
Specifically, Armen works to institutionalize and expand the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across Flagship and portfolio companies, and to help drive Flagship’s efforts in AI research to identify breakthrough innovation platforms in human health and sustainability.
Armen also works with the Preemptive Medicine and Health Security Initiative to define the strategic vision, and to identify partnerships and opportunities for whitespace innovation.
Armen brings a strong entrepreneurial spirit and depth of business and technical operations experience to this role.
He joined Flagship from McKinsey & Company where he was most recently an Associate Partner and Co-leader of the McKinsey Center for Future Mobility.
He led large corporate transformations, client development efforts, and engagements on strategy and operations with a focus on the impact of AI in the automotive, aerospace, and hi-tech/electronics sectors.
Previously, he was an Assistant Professor at the American University of Armenia where he taught a graduate-level software engineering class and established the Entrepreneurship and Product Innovation Center (EPIC), an incubation center to further the knowledge and practice of entrepreneurship in Armenia.
As EPIC’s Founding Director, he crafted its vision and goals, developed programs for students, and established partnerships.
