Based in Lyon, the firm was established in 1983 at the initiative of CIC Lyonnaise de Banque and Sofinnova. The firm's shareholders include CIC Banque de Vizille, CDC Entreprises, Sofinnova, the regional insurance group Apicil and the Rhône-Alpes region. Sudinnova, also known as Société Financière d'Innovation du Sud Est, specializes in regional venture capital investing. Between 2000 and 2004 the firm was supervised by Sud Partners, a majority-owned subsidiary of SIGEFI Ventures Gestion, the venture capital arm of French independent group Siparex.

Credit Mutuel Equity SA is the private equity and venture capital subsidiary of Crédit Industriel et Commercial SA, which is ultimately-owned by Groupe Crédit Mutuel. The firm was founded in 1956. It is headquartered in Paris, with additional offices across France, Canada, USA, Switzerland, Germany, and United Kingdom.
