Barclays Global Investors (Australia) Ltd. (BGIA) is the Australian subsidiary of BlackRock Investment Management (Australia) Ltd., itself a subsidiary of BlackRock, Inc. (NYSE: BLK) in the US, which merged with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), including the market-leading iShares® exchange traded funds business, in 2009. The combined firm will operate under the BlackRock name and the iShares brand will be retained. BGIA was established in 1971 and is located in Sydney.
