Dr. Guillermo Beylis is Research Economist at The World Bank.

Currently his research is focused on the effects of educational mismatch in labor markets and the effects on poverty and inequality, the lighthouse effect of minimum wages, selection into self-employment, and the impact of automation in developing countries.
His main areas of research are labor economics, inequality, and poverty.
He joined the World Bank in 2013, and he has published reports on remittances and foreign direct investment (2014), inequality and growth (2014), and labor markets in Latin America and the Caribbean (2015).
Dr. Beylis received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in economics from Universidad Torcuato di Tella in Buenos Aires, and he holds a PhD in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
