John Patrick Basford

Mr. John P.
Basford is a Partner & Market Leader at Cerity Partners LLC.
He is a member of the Investment Committee and has over 27 years of Investment Advisory experience working with high-net-worth families, foundations, not-for-profits, and endowments.
He started his career with a lead money management firm in Birmingham, Michigan.
From there, he moved to a leading national brokerage firm.
After successfully building a practice he was recruited by Deloitte & Touche and founded their Investment Advising Practice in Michigan.
He also chaired the Investment Policy Committee and served as practice leader for the Detroit office.
John was involved in many aspects of developing the infrastructure of Deloitte’s investment practice in that region, including performance reporting, research, and deliverables to the marketplace.
He was the lead contributor and educator on a national basis of tax-aware investing strategies within the Deloitte Investment Advisory Practice.
He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Detroit Mercy.
