Nicolas Berggruen (* 10. August 1961 in Paris) ist ein deutsch-amerikanischer Sein Vermögen wurde vom Forbes Magazine im März 2013 auf 2 Milliarden Dollar geschätzt. In den 2000er-Jahren verlagerte er seine Investitionen in Sachwerte und orientierte seine Interessen dabei auf langfristige Projekte. Seit 2009 arbeitet er mit dem Nicolas Berggruen Institute on Governance (NBI) überwiegend in der Politikberatung. In Deutschland wurde er mit dem Kauf der insolventen Warenhauskette Karstadt im Juni 2010 bekannt.

Leben
Familie
Nicolas Berggruen Sohn des deutschen Galeristen, Kunstsammlers und Mäzens Heinz Berggruen und dessen zweiter Frau, der Schauspielerin Bettina Moissi. Sein Bruder Olivier (* 1963) ist Kunsthistoriker und wuchs mit ihm in Paris auf.

Aus der ersten Ehe seines Vaters hat er einen Halbbruder, den Galeristen John Henry Berggruen (* 1943 in San Francisco) und eine Halbschwester, die Malerin Helen Berggruen.

Nicolas Berggruen wurde deutschsprachig erzogen, außerdem spricht er Französisch und Englisch.
