Philip Philip

Dr. Philip Philip is an Advisor at CIG Venture Management LLC.
He is a tenured Professor in Medicine and Oncology, Karmanos Cancer Institute, NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, Wayne State University, School of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology, Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Philip is also an attending physician in Hematology/Oncology at the Karmanos Cancer Center and heads the Center’s Gastrointestinal Cancer Program.
Dr. Philip also chairs the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee at the Karmanos Cancer Institute.
He is board certified in internal medicine and oncology and is also a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in the UK.
His major clinical and translational research interests are in the new drug development for gastrointestinal cancers.
He has been the Principal Investigator of several local, regional and national clinical studies in GI cancers.
He is a member of the Pharmacology and Molecular Mechanisms Group (PAMM) of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG), Intergroup Task Force for Pancreatic Cancer, and the American Pancreatic Association (APA).
Dr. Philip is a member of the editorial board of the Community Oncology, and an ad hoc reviewer for several journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Clinical Cancer Research, Oncology, Cancer, International Journal of Cancer, Oncology, and Gut.
A frequently invited national as well as international speaker, he has published numerous original and review articles, meeting abstracts, book chapters and educational modules on oncology.
