Mr. Russell Fong is Acting Chief Financial Officer at The California Public Employees Retirement System.
He oversees CalPERS major financial processes including budgeting, accounting, cash management, financial planning and analysis.
He also provides leadership over enterprise risk management which includes enterprise compliance, enterprise privacy and protection, business continuity, disaster recovery and enterprise risk intelligence.
Mr. Fong joined CalPERS as Chief of the Fiscal Services Division in 2005.
In this position, Mr. Fong managed and directed the accounting and budget activities for all funds and programs related to the various retirement, health and investment programs administered by CalPERS.
In addition, the Fiscal Services Division is responsible for publishing the financial statements for all funds administered by the Board of Administration in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Mr. Fong earned his Bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California at Los Angeles.
