The firm was founded by Steve Smith in 1995 and they do-business-as Smith Group Asset Management. They are a subsidiary of Cantor Fitzgerald Investment Advisors LP, ultimately held by Cantor Fitzgerald LP. Smith Group provides portfolio management services to individuals, high net-worth individuals, banking and thrift institutions, investment companies including mutual funds, corporate pension and profit-sharing plans, multi-employer plans, other pooled investment vehicles, charitable institutions, corporations and businesses not listed above, state or municipal government entities, WRAP platforms and UMAs.

Northern Trust Investments, Inc. (Investment Management) (NTI-IM) is the asset management division of Northern Trust Investments, Inc., ultimately held by Northern Trust Corp. (NASDAQGS: NTRS), a multi-bank holding company established in 1889. The firm was founded in 1988 and headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. NTI-IM provides a wide range of discretionary and non-discretionary investment advisory and sub-advisory services to individual and institutional clients.

On April 12, 1853, the New York State legislature passed a bill chartering the United States Trust Co. of New York with the mission of serving as manager, executor and trustee of personal and corporate funds. They opened for business in New York City in August of that year. US Trust has divisions in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Florida, Texas, Oregon, California, Washington, and the District of Columbia.
