"Volksbank-Pacific-Invest" regains number-one position among Austrian asia funds

Vienna, 15 February 2012 -  Parallel to booming emerging countries such as especially China, the Asian Pacific equity markets are gaining significantly in importance. Volksbank Investments offers an outstanding expertise for this region, which was confirmed impressively once more by winning the Lipper Award Austria 2012 for "the best Asia fund including Japan within the last 5 years".

"Volksbank-Pacific-Invest" (ISIN: AT0000855838) has ben the winner of the Lipper Award for the fourth time in a row, having been ranked for years among the top-awarded funds within its category. The focus of the fund is to benefit from long-term return opportunities on the Asian Pacific equity markets. Equity selection (entire Asian region including Japan as well as Australian companies) is made according to a qualitative-quantitative selection process that has proven successful on a long-term basis.

Fund manager Ulrich Baumann on the market outlook for 2012: "Despite the continuing global debt crisis, worldwide equity markets had the best start since 1994. For the MSCI Emerging Markets, it was even the second best January performance in 24 years. The old but nonetheless appropriate market sayings "As January goes, so goes the year" and "Buy on bad news" could still convince defensively oriented investors to shift to high-yield shares and regions. However, due to the still unsolved problems in the developed countries we expect volatile stock markets, with short-term weaknesses offering interesting buying opportunities for long-term oriented investors thanks to the low ratings in Asia."

The Lipper Award is one of the most prestigious awards within the global fund industry. It honours those funds within an asset category which, compared to their peer group, manage to achieve risk-adjusted returns above average on a long-term basis.

Volksbank Investments offers a fund- and certificate portfolio as well as structured funds. Regarding traditional funds, the investment company is considered a small but excellent provider.
