Lehman Brothers Real Estate Group makes direct private equity investments in properties, real estate companies and service businesses ancillary to the real estate industry in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. The firm also invests in a broad range of mezzanine debt and other high yielding investments in real estate, primarily in the US.

Investcorp Real Estate Investment Group (IREG) sources US properties and performs due diligence and arranges financing and those properties. The firm also acquires commercial mortgage debt positions and originate mezzanine debt. In addition, they advise on the real estate aspects of Investcorp's other investment activities. IREG invests in US property in the residential, office, industrial, retail and hotel sectors. They target properties in proven locations that offer some opportunity for value enhancement over the investment term. The firm's acquisitions tend to have strong cash flows, a proven operating history and solid initial occupancy. IREG typically aggregates the investment in these properties, loans or originated loans into a series of multi-investment portfolios for placement to their clients. They acquire controlling interests in their equity investments and usually operate in contractual association with strong national or regional real estate companies, who frequently choose to co-invest with them.
