Prior to joining American Capital in May 2005, Mr. Shin was the Corporate Director of Global Procurement for Stanley Works where he oversaw a material spend base of $1.2 billion and a global organization of 80 professionals.
In three years at Stanley, he reduced material cost by $27 million net of steel inflation and he improved working capital by $40 million.
Mr. Shin started his career with GE where he held key positions in manufacturing, finance, marketing and eventually sourcing.
He progressed to a variety of key executive positions at GE including foreign assignments in Hong Kong, Mexico and Europe.
During his 10+ years of professional tenure in global sourcing, hee was instrumental in transitioning over $200 million of spend to low cost countries such as China, India, Taiwan, Mexico and the Czech Republic.
The total annualized net savings exceeded $50 million.
Mr. Shin earned his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla.
He was born in Seoul, Korea.
