William E. Foster

Mr. William E.

He co-founded Stratus Computer, a designer of fault-tolerant computer systems for online transaction processing and communications controls, and served as Chief Executive Officer from 1980 to May 1997 and as Chairman from 1980 to October 1998 when Stratus Computer was acquired by Ascend Communications, a manufacturer of telecommunications equipment, which was subsequently acquired by Lucent.
From 1980 until November 1993, Mr. Foster also served as President of Stratus Computer Inc., and from August 1996 to May 1997, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer and was Chairman since January 1996.
Prior to that time, he spent 14 years in the computer industry at Data General as Vice President of Software, and at Hewlett-Packard, where he held several management and technical positions.
He has been Director of Convergent Networks Inc. since August 2000.
He served as Director of NMS Communications Corp.
from 2000 to May 2007.
He served as a Director of Stratus Computer Inc., since February 1980 and Ezenia Inc. Mr. Foster received his undergraduate degree from San Jose State University, a graduate degree from Santa Clara University, and an MBA from Santa Clara University.
