Halim Bin Shafie

Halim Bin Shafie is currently the Chairman of Smart Axiata Co. Ltd., Director of Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology, Director of Innovationxchange Malaysia Bhd., Adjunct Professor at Universiti Utara Malaysia, and Council Member of Malaysian National Computer Confederation.
Previously, he served as the Non-Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Telekom Malaysia Bhd.
from 2009 to 2015.
He was also the Chairman of Universiti Telekom Sdn.
Bhd.
and GITN Sdn.
From 2015 to 2018, Dr. Bin Shafie held the position of Chairman at the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission.
He also served as the Chairman of Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn.
In 2022, he became the Chairman of CelcomDigi Bhd.
for a one-year term.
He has also been a Director of Tenaga Nasional Bhd.
Dr. Bin Shafie has served as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Axiata Group Bhd.
from 2020 to 2023.
He has also been a Director of Pos Malaysia Bhd., Malaysia Digital Economy Corp.
Sdn.
Bhd., and Malaysian Electronic Clearing Corp.
Sdn.
In terms of education, Dr. Bin Shafie obtained a graduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1980.
He also holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Malaya, conferred in 1972.
Additionally, he earned a doctorate degree from Syracuse University in 1988.
