AGI is the investment management division and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Allianz SE (FR: ALV; NYSE: AZ), a leading global provider of insurance, banking and asset management services. AGI-BH was established in 2008. Their parent company Allianz Global Investors Europe undertakes portfolio management, investment advisory and brokerage services. AGI-BH operates primarily as a sales and marketing office for institutional clients in the MENA region. In particular they distribute Shariah-compliant equity funds based on strategies managed by RCM, the global equity specialist within Allianz. The Allianz group has been present in Bahrain since 2007, when they established the Islamic insurance company Allianz Takaful BSC and the ancillary service provider Allianz MENA Holding Co. SPC. AGI-BH operates as the group's central office for the region, and coordinates the various insurance operations of Allianz in the Indian Subcontinent and MENA region.
