The Group's principal activity is the venture capital operation and financing. The operations are carried out through the following divisions: Investment division deals with investment in venture business of domestic and overseas companies; establishing, operation and management of assets of investment partnerships and Financing division deals with loans, leasing, and other financial services.

Founded in 1959, the firm is headquartered in Tokyo and manages investment trusts for private investors and provides investment advisory and discretionary asset management for institutional investors and overseas asset management companies. Daiwa Asset Management is a signatory of the Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI).
