CIMIC Group's construction company, CPB Contractors, has been selected by New Zealand's Ministry of Health to construct the Christchurch Hospital Acute Services Building (ASB) project in New Zealand.
The 62,000 square metre ASB project will generate revenue of approximately NZ$300 million to CPB Contractors over two and a half years.
CIMIC Group Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Marcelino Fernández Verdes said: "Across multiple markets, population ageing and growth are driving social infrastructure investment which is creating opportunities for CIMIC and CPB Contractors."
CPB Contractors Managing Director Román Garrido said: "Delivering new and upgraded health infrastructure is a core capability for us and we are committed to working with our clients to deliver outstanding healthcare solutions.
"Following a competitive tender process our team has worked with the Ministry of Health under a Pre-Construction Services Agreement to develop the project's construction methodologies, programme and cost. The process has captured innovations and savings which will enhance efficient construction."
The ASB will adjoin Christchurch Women's Hospital. The facility includes a new emergency department and operating theatres, an expanded intensive care unit, children's facilities, a state-of-the-art radiology department and a rooftop helipad.
Construction of the ASB is planned for completion by mid 2018.
The project is part of the New Zealand Ministry of Health's NZ$650 million plus redevelopment of Christchurch and Burwood Hospitals.
