The firm seeks to identify new opportunities in very early-stage companies and to develop them into high-growth companies capable of a profitable exit. They typically take a board seat, partnering with their investee companies and following their Active Business Creation & Development framework to provide management support including business planning, sales management, participation in sales processes, contract negotiation and organizational development. Nunatak and their investee company founders generally provide the initial financing. They help with public start-up capital (start-up grants, IFU/OFU contracts, Norwegian Research Council projects, European 6th Framework Program, etc) and participate as lead investor or underwriter in subsequent seed/VC financing rounds. The firm prefers to exit their investments through IPOs or trade sales.
