Leighton Contractors awarded $249 million coal contract in Queensland's Bowen Basin region

Leighton Contractors Pty Limited has been awarded a three year, $249 million contract at the Isaac
Plains open-cut coal mine for Isaac Plains Coal Management Pty Ltd.
The contract includes a range of contract mining services, including the operation of a BE1370 dragline, and the supply and maintenance of mobile plant and equipment, to produce approximately
2.7 million ROM tonnes of coal each year.
Leighton Holdings Chief Executive Officer, Hamish Tyrwhitt, said: "The range of mining services covered in this contract reflects the diversity of the Leighton Group's skills in the resources sector. Leighton Contractors' expertise in coal, and its history of more than three decades servicing the Australian mining sector, has enabled it to hone efficiencies and incorporate the use of technologies that improve cost structures for our clients."
Leighton Contractors Managing Director, Craig Laslett, said the award reflected Leighton Contractors' track record and its continued delivery of generational expertise, value, and cost-effective solutions for clients.
"This announcement is further testament of our ability to partner with our clients in developing innovative and efficient operating frameworks that ensure positive cost structure outcomes, as well as excellence in performance," he said.
Isaac Plains is located approximately seven kilometres east of Moranbah and 200km south west of Mackay in Queensland's Bowen Basin region. Leighton Contractors will employ approximately 160 personnel at the mine.
Isaac Plains is a joint venture project between Sumitomo Corporation and Vale Australia.
